Mexico Dogs/Christmas is Coming

man i don´t have any notes but i´m just going to think really hard and pull a beautiful email out of thin air.
This week i got better from my sick. i´m not sick anymore basically. but i can´t really remember anything super eventful from this week. I´ve been feeling low on energy as i´ve been recovering from the fever that i had.
mmm let me talk about wild dogs.
There are a lot of wild dogs in mexico! and they are like kind of all abused and so they don´t like people but they also really want love at the same time. like all the dogs secretly want to be petted, but they just aren´t sure if you are going to throw rocks at them, and so they hide or get mad sometimes, the best approach i have found to dealing with wild dogs is just to not make eye contact with them, then they know that i plan on just leaving them alone, but you kind of get a sence for the dogs that feel insecure and the dogs that want love. smaller dogs are really insecure but they´re not very threatening. One time i almost got bit by a dog, he really spooked me, it was because i was walking straight toward him and looking in his eyes, and he thought i was going to hurt him or something, and he jumped at me and got really close to me, but i swung my backpack at him and yelled a manly yell and he decided he had better leave me alone haha
right now as i´m writing this there is a dog laying down next to me that wandered into the internet cafe.
This week we had this catholic festival in our neighborhood and we walked through it and there were a lot of drunk catholics that tried to talk to us because we are white missionaries, there was a big firework that was set off really close to us, that was cool. and we saw a little bit of the dance that they were doing, Catholic means something really different in mexico than it does in america. Before the spanish came and conquered mexico the indiginous people dressed up and did dances for their pagan gods, when the spanish introduced catholisism they kept a lot of their indiginous traditions, and so they dance for the santos, the virgin mary and judas and the divino niño and different images that the people worship. They expect the santos to grant them miracles and good fortune, they also believe in God and in Jesus Christ but there are a lot of santos.
